Auto & mobility · Thailand · Orphaned-EV parts and service gap

Neta's maker went bankrupt. 25,000 Thai EVs can't get parts.

Zhejiang Hozon New Energy Automobile is the Chinese company that built every Neta — a cheap electric car (a car that runs on a battery, not petrol) that sold well in Thailand. In June 2025 a Chinese court accepted papers to put Hozon through bankruptcy and restructuring. Its Thai service centres started to close. About 25,000 Neta cars are already on the road here. Their owners now struggle to get the parts that fail most: the drivetrain (the motor-and-gear unit that moves the car) and the CDU (the box that controls charging and high-voltage power). Almost no workshop can rebuild either.

01The pain

A Neta owner brings the electric car (a car that runs on a battery, not petrol) to the dealer. It will not move. The broken part is the drivetrain (the motor-and-gear unit that turns the wheels) or the CDU (the box that manages charging and high-voltage power). Both fail often. Both came only from the factory in China. The dealer has no spare, and the car sits dead for weeks.3,4

That factory is in trouble. In June 2025 a Chinese court accepted bankruptcy-restructuring papers for Zhejiang Hozon New Energy Automobile.1,2,5 Hozon is the parent firm that built every Neta and shipped every part. Its Thai service centres began closing. Dealers fell from 60 to 40. About 25,000 Neta cars already run on Thai roads. The Thailand Consumers Council has logged 69 owner complaints since early 2024: missing parts, shut centres, cars stuck waiting.3

About 25,000 orphaned Neta EVs. The parts factory is in bankruptcy.

Then Neta drew a line. Fix the car at any outside garage, it warned, and the warranty (the free-repair promise) ends at once.4 Owners are trapped. The official centre is empty; the outside garage is banned. Independent shops cannot get the parts either, and almost none can rebuild a high-voltage battery pack or a motor unit. So owners hunt Facebook groups for "any shop that can touch a Neta." They buy salvaged parts from wrecked cars at Siang Kong, Thailand's used-parts bazaar.

02Who solves this today

We searched for a Thai or Southeast-Asian operating company that runs the shape this gap calls for: a workshop that rebuilds an orphaned-brand high-voltage battery pack and drive unit, and reverse-engineers, makes or reliably stocks the Neta CDU (charge distribution unit) and traction-motor parts as a commercial service — so a stranded Neta owner can book a real repair instead of waiting on a factory that no longer ships. We ran English- and Thai-language queries across the Pantip owner forums, Thai motoring press (Thairath, Prachachat, The Nation, Bangkok Post), EV-garage directories, and every plausible vendor's own product and service page. What we found:

  • Independent Neta repair garages (for example, Kingkue EV Shop / กิ้งกือ EV Shop) — a small Thai garage that has become the place stranded Neta owners turn to, reportedly handling more than 20 Neta cars a day. It is real and useful, and it is the human face of the workaround. But its own press coverage shows it still sources parts by importing from China or buying salvage, and waits on the same scarce CDU and drivetrain stock as everyone else; it does not remanufacture high-voltage battery packs or drive units, and it does not make its own CDU. It is the symptom of the gap, not the close of it. thairath.co.th (Kingkue EV Shop profile) · prachachat.net
  • CNC789 — Neta parts reseller — markets itself as a "complete NETA parts" supplier for the Neta V, S and X at wholesale prices. On reading the product page, the catalogue is body panels, lights, interior trim, fluids and filters — the cheap, available consumables. It explicitly resells curated parts and names no remanufacturing. It does not stock the load-bearing failures: the high-voltage battery pack, the traction motor, or the CDU. cnc789.com/ev/neta-parts
  • Neta Auto (Thailand) — official aftersale — the first party, and the one whose collapse is the pain. It opened a spare-parts distribution centre in April 2025 and promises an eight-year high-voltage-battery warranty, but the operational service-and-parts network is exactly what is shrinking as the parent restructures. It is not a third-party solver; it is the channel owners can no longer rely on. neta.co.th/th/aftersale

None of these is a company a stranded Neta owner can call this week to have a failed drivetrain or CDU rebuilt to order. This is an open opportunity for founders. The demand is concrete: about 25,000 cars already on the road, a CDU that owners report ordering from China for around 20,000 baht (~US$560) when one can be found at all, a drivetrain and a high-voltage battery pack that no independent shop can yet remanufacture, and a brutal Thai EV price war that is set to orphan the next weak brand the same way. What is missing is the operator: a workshop with a high-voltage battery-rebuild bench, the ability to repair or copy the failure-prone CDU, a salvaged-and-tested parts inventory, and a warranty an owner can trust more than a closed dealer. If you build or know a company that actually runs this shape in Thailand or the region, email contact@aikraft.com and we will list them.

No orphaned-brand EV remanufacturing workshop located yet
After a search across the Pantip owner forums, Thai motoring press, EV-garage directories and every plausible vendor's product page, we did not find a Thai or regional company whose service page concretely offers rebuild-the-battery-pack / repair-or-copy-the-CDU / remanufacture-the-drive-unit for orphaned Neta cars as one commercial bundle. Repair garages and parts resellers exist; the remanufacturer does not. If you build or know one, email contact@aikraft.com.

No companies listed yet — get on this page. This page is in no-solver-yet mode: we could not find a Thai or regional company whose product page concretely sells the full orphaned-Neta remanufacturing workflow — rebuild the high-voltage battery pack, repair or copy the CDU, remanufacture the drive unit, stock and test salvaged parts — as one commercial service. If you build or know a company that does, write to us and we will list it within 7 business days. If you are already named on this page above (Kingkue EV Shop, CNC789, Neta Auto Thailand) and want a correction or removal, that runs through the same channel; removal is processed within 24 hours.
